You can be assured that everything we do on this site will reflect the title. I was a teacher for 34 years, ran a computer store for 17 years. There are SO many products out there all claiming they are the best.
In fact most of that is sales hype! I could recommend all kinds of products, but I REFUSE to offer products that I would NOT use myself, regardless of how much money I would make because of better name recognition.
Why I recommend Products
Yes of course it helps to pay for my hosting bills!
BUT when I recommend a product, you can be sure that it is a product we use, have used or that come highly RECOMMEND by reliable software gurus and many just plain individuals like you.
They will be the TOP products in their field for functionality, ease-of-use, and getting the job done they are supposed to do. I am not claiming perfection. I simply do the research.
Buy or use freeware products for EVERY individual nasty problem out there which may just not work well together or ..
You can buy an INTERNET SECURITY SUITE which works together to attack and defend against the malware as it is called.
My choice is to buy an excellent security suite to eliminate conflicts, and save you work because you only have to use ONE program to set it up for use. It never hurts to have a few other programs installed, perhaps freeware, or other commercial software, which may be especially good at attacking one aspect of the bad guys. HOWEVER DO NOT INSTALL IT unless you see on the websites of ALL the security products you use that there will be NO conflict or YOU will creating your OWN problem instead of solving it.
AVG free is very good and very popular but unless you buy the paid version, you won't have a suite. Also we quit selling it because I myself had a problem and was supposed to get priority support as a reseller. However it took two days for them to get back to me. Kaspersky on the other hand has the fastest response time! Even before I started using it, I downloaded the trial and started setting it up. I ran into a few problems that I could not figure out how to do. I emailed support and within an hour or two, I got an answer back! Many developers of software will NOT ANSWER you at all unless you are registered. So I was impressed. I did the research and you cannot beat Kaspersky.
Another product that is quite good is the Zonealarm Security Suite. Rumour has it that within the last year or so, Zonealarm, actually Checkit Software, dumped their current bundled AV provider and bought Kaspersky as their antivirus software. You can't tell from looking because it is integrated into their software.
We will also be adding Bitdefender and NOD32 which are very good products as well. |
